Tour Itinerary
2 hours private tour (4.30pm – 6.30pm)
Pick up from your hotel in Luang Prabang, drive to a local village called Ban Khom Khuang. En route, you’ll make a stop at the nearby Ban Xang Khong village, which features paper made from mulberry bark as well as beautifully woven textiles.
On arrival to Ban Khom Khuang village, you’re invited into the home of a local family for the private Baci ceremony. Led by the nai ban, or village elder, this friendly, pre-Buddhist ritual is performed to celebrate special occasions such as marriage, the birth of a child or recovery from illness — and to honor visitors with tidings of good fortune. Watch as a white, knotted thread symbolizing luck, friendship and good health is gently tied around your wrist while you’re blessed. Traditionally, the thread is worn for a minimum of three days or until it falls off on its own.
Your guide explains everything during the 30-minute baci ceremony and answers any questions you have before driving you back to your hotel.
